I’m doing my part to spread some great news..if you have severe allergies, you should look into Neffy. Neffy is a nasal form of epinephrine and a “game changer” for people who are afraid of epi-pen injections. I recently heard about Neffy’s nasal spray technology from FARE. Research taught me that the FDA approved the Neffy nose spray in 2024. It was created as an alternative to the epi-pen, because the majority of people who should carry an epi pen don’t. Fear of needles, the high costs, and the large size are some of the reasons why people don’t carry their epi-pen. For these reasons, doctors are enthusiastic about Neffy’s ability to save lives.
In a Northeastern Global News article, pharmaceutical professors at Northeastern University explain why Neffy is a great option. First, Neffy is very small and easily to carry, and it works as well as an epi pen. The Neffy prescription also lasts longer than epi pens, so you won’t need to renew it so often. There are a few potential negatives such as cost and lack of real-world testing. Still, Dr. Zachary Rubin, a pediatric allergist, shared in a Medpage Today article that he is excited about Neffy. So am I. I always carry my epi-pen because of my severe tree nut allergies, but it terrifies me. I feel anxious whenever I pick it up and think about needing to be injected. Neffy won’t change my fear of nuts, but I wouldn’t feel nervous about needing to use it. If you have allergies that require you to carry an epi-pen, ask your doctor about Neffy.
